Yoga - our approach
We have both trained with the well-respected Yoga Training school Sadhana Mala. Here we have learnt a style of yoga passed from Krishnamacharya to his son Desikachar known as Viniyoga.
There are many styles of yoga now available however within our approach we teach group classes with a respect for the individual. This tradition is a fully inclusive practice that is adaptable to suit the needs of differing abilities, ages and cultures.
Yoga can bring a wonderful sense of awareness to the body and the mind helping us to become more conscious of our needs and goals within our lives.
We are all strongly influenced by our day-to-day stresses and yoga can be the counter posture to the pressure that may bring to both our bodies and our minds. Yoga offers not only an opportunity for self-reflection but may also work to break the cycle of negative habits, unlock tension, stabilise the emotions and offer strength and flexibility.
As teachers we place a great emphasis on the use of the breath to accompany conscious movement. In this way we may become more efficient in the use of the breath and in turn promote good body alignment and stillness within the mind.
We respect the individual’s unique condition and we will always begin wherever you are at that moment. By adjusting a practice to meet individual needs, each person can reach their own personal proficiency within yoga.
